Don’t Miss City Club of Central Oregon’s Next Forum

May is National Wildfire Awareness Month.  If you live in Central Oregon you ARE at risk for experiencing wildfire.  That is just a fact.  ‘Fire seasons’ are now ‘fire years’.  Wildfire smoke and its impacts seem to occur for longer durations.  Megafires have become normal.  Really?  It can feel overwhelming at times.  We get it.

There is a lot going on in the public and private sectors to address wildfire issues.  There are also ways to access information and other resources to help individuals and communities prepare for wildfires and be more resilient when they happen.

We hope you will join us at the upcoming City Club of Central Oregon Forum next Thursday, May 26th for a conversation on Building Resiliency into Living with Wildfire.

We will examine the steps taken over the past 30 years to help our communities combat fire at the urban interface and what steps are being taken going forward. Whose responsibility is fire protection in our neighborhoods? How do we develop new housing and remodel in fire safe ways? How do we build resiliency into our urban-wildland interface? Can we prevent a megafire from happening here?
